Pastoral Lead Team

The primary tasks of this team include celebrating and calling out the life of God in the people of Open Door, and collaborating together to create programming according to the strategic plan. This team includes:

Brad Friedlein, Groups Pastor
Brad joined the Open Door staff in February 2006 and oversees adult group ministries, supporting and encouraging existing leaders in the ministries that God has called them to lead, and to raise up and encourage new leaders and help them discover what God may be calling them to.

Joel Hanson, Worship Pastor
Joel served on staff from 2004-2007 and rejoined the staff in August, 2008. He is the worship pastor, offering his creative and musical talents to help lead us into worship during the weekend services.

Brian Houts, Next Generation Pastor
Brian joined Open Door in February 2012. He oversees the mentoring prorgram for middle school and high school students. The program consists of a mentoring relationship for each student and weekly learning environments and service environments.

Jen Lindwall, Service Learning Pastor

Jen joined the Open Door staff in July 2005 and organizes a variety of service environments for people at Open Door to learn more about themselves, God and our community, through which adults, students and families serve at over 40 sites across the Twin Cities.

Bob McKenna, Care Pastor
Bob began attending Open Door in 1982 and joined the staff in July 1993. He develops and manages Care Ministries, including funerals, on-call phone coverage, counseling issues, support groups, visitation, grief support, prayer ministries and benevolence.

Sara Richards, Kids Pastor
Sara joined the team in October 2010 to oversee an amazing team of staff and volunteers whose purpose it is to inspire over 500 infants through 6th graders to become fully alive in God.

Al Schuck, Next Steps Pastor
Al started at Open Door in January 1995 and as the Next Step Pastor, focuses on helping people discern their next step toward life with God and the community of Open Door.
