Metro Impact
Minnesota FoodShare March Campaign
We will be participating in the Minnesota FoodShare March Campaign by collecting food during the month of March for our local food shelf, CROSS (Christians Reaching Out in Social Service). Last year we exceeded our goal of 4500 pounds. Bring your food or financial donations to the Beyond Our Door wall and help us reach our 2010 goal of 5000 pounds!

Empty Bowls Project
The goal of Empty Bowls is to help fight hunger, to raise awareness about the issues of hunger and food security, and to help bring about an attitude that will not allow hunger to exist. Empty Bowls is a simple meal of soup and bread. Bowls are hand made by students, community members and local artists. The bowls are displayed and chosen to take home with a donation to CROSS.

Project Homeless Connect
Twice each year, Hennepin County and the City of Minneapolis partner with service providers, businesses, citizens and faith communities to bring multiple resources to one location where people can come to find the services they need. These services include: housing, employment, medical care, mental health care, benefits and legal assistance, eye care, haircuts, chiropractic care and dental care. Volunteers of all ages, backgrounds and experience levels serve people in our community experiencing homelessness. The volunteers will act as guides, partnering with guests to help them find resources.
A background in social services is not require, but you do need a sense of humor, willingness to help, and the ability to be on your feet for relatively long periods. All first-time volunteers are required to attend a training and orientation session, and volunteers must be at least 18 years of age. For more information, contact Rebecca or visit Project Homeless Connect.
Volunteer shifts: Mon, Mar 29, 9am-2pm or 9am-4pm
