Special Needs
In many cultures, those with special needs are cast out from their communities and even their families. In an effort to love the orphans, homeless, and those seen as loveless, Open Door has built and supported special needs homes in Belize and Haiti.
Project Mercy
Project Mercy, a two-month “loose change” collection, began in 1992. For several years it provided funds needed for surgeries in developing countries aboard the Mercy Ship. Then the funds built and supported the needs of a special needs home called The RahCinDes House in Hopkins Village, Belize.
Mephiboscheth House
Today, the funds provide for the needs of the Mephiboscheth House, a special needs home in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. Our partners in Haiti since 1988, Pastor Diogene and Marie-Lionette Pierre direct this ministry and that of nine churches and 29 schools.
