Service Learning

Provide formational experiences while serving others in
our community.

Service Environments
The desire to be good neighbors and build community compels us to find ways to serve together. From this we learn about our call to be active in the world around us and to integrate serving others into our daily lives. Service can take on many forms, sometimes it is hands-on like serving a meal or raking a yard and other times it is relationship like being a friend to someone or listening to someone’s story.

Serving experiences can be a catalyst to life change which is why learning is
the second core element of these environments. We believe that serving with others gives us a unique opportunity to process our experiences, ask questions, and think about our individual call to work for justice in our communities. We look at every serving experience through a lens of learning, intentionally seeing the people around us and being open to ask questions of ourselves and others. From this learning, we can interpret how Jesus is calling us into a more meaningful relationship with him and others.

We have created a variety of service environments to represent these different ways to serve. The following service environments occur once a month starting in October and ending in April.

Hands on: Serve Maple Grove

On the first Saturday morning of each month, we serve the Maple Grove community.

Neighbor in Need?

If you know of an individual or family in the Maple Grove community who might need help around their home with yard work, cleaning, organizing, painting. etc, contact Rebecca. Please put “Serve Maple Grove” in the subject line.

Hands on: Serve a Meal

Participants will serve a meal at a partner organization.

Hands on: Serve Minneapolis

The second Saturday of each month, we collaborate with Sanctuary Community Development Corporation in their Love Minneapolis project.
