SCHOOL YEAR BLESSING SUNDAY

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 18: Every fall we take time to pray over our kids, youth & MELA as they begin another school year. Following the gathering will be a festive version of The Donut Moment to officially kick-off the fall season.

ALL-CHURCH PRAYER & WORSHIP GATHERING

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 17: As the church family of Open Door, we desire to listen for and follow the voice of Jesus. The All-Church Prayer & Worship Gathering is a space to worship and seek God together for Open Door, our community, and the world at large. We’ll spend time in song, interactive prayer, meditation on scripture and more.

FALL COOKIE JAM

BEGINNING SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 25: Each Sunday following the gathering cookies and live music will be available in the Gathering Place. Feel free to slow down, stay a little while, enjoy the company of others, and meet someone new! And remember…it’s not just about a cookie…it’s about community!

 

Do you want to help serve? We have a few great ways you can get involved as an individual or a family! Each Sunday we need 4-6 people to help with hospitality (including setting-up, hosting and cleaning-up afterwards). Sign-up here.

SATURDAY NIGHT WOMEN'S GROUP

2nd SATURDAYS, OCTOBER 8, NOVEMBER 12, DECEMBER 10: Be known in community as you get out of the house, come as you are, and connect with other women in a laid-back, fun environment. This a great place to land for connection, prayer and encouragement! Please bring something to share and a towel (if interested in the sauna or hot tub.)

BLAZIN' BONFIRE BASH

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 14: Who doesn’t love a good fall evening bonfire?! This is a great event whether you are brand new to Open Door or a long-time attender. Hot chocolate, lawn games, and fireside snacks will await you at the Open Door firepit. Bring your favorite unique s’mores topping. By unique…we mean bacon…or literally anything! Sorry kids…adults-only for this one!

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 18 or SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 13: New to Open Door? Curious about this church? This is an opportunity for those who are new to learn more about the church, meet some of the pastors/staff, ask some questions, and hear the story and heart behind this place.

TRUNK OR TREAT

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 29: Join us in the Open Door parking lot, dressed in your costumes and ready to get lots of candy in this safe, family-friendly environment. Dance to the music, enjoy treats, and get in on the fun as kids receive candy at each of our amazing, creatively decorated car trunks.

 

Adults and kids of every age are invited to get involved by hosting a trunk and donating candy! It’s a great event for neighbors, friends, and our multi-talented and multi-generational Open Door community! 

 

Ways to get involved:

  1. Host a Trunk! Decorate the trunk of your car, the back of your truck, or even a trailer and hand out candy to kids as they walk by. Sign up below!
  2. Donate Candy and treats! We want to have a crazy amount of candy to give away.
  3. Attend and bring your friends and neighbors!

CHILD DEDICATION

SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 20: Dedicate your child to God’s trustworthy and loving hands and publicly state, along with family, friends and our faith community, your intention to raise them in the Christian faith.

 

The dedication ceremony happens in the Sunday Gathering on November 20. Also, plan to attend the preparation class on Sunday, November 13, at 8pm via Zoom

NEXTYOUTH FALL RETREAT

SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 6: Retreats are a great time to experience God while connecting with other students and leaders. Our fall retreat at Trout Lake Camp will include chapel sessions, music, fun and games, and small group interactions. Plus, during free time students can try laser tag, the climbing wall, zip line, a sports tournament and more. Cost of retreat includes meals, activities and transportation.

 

*Is cost an issue or would it make it challenging for your student to attend? Scholarships are available! Please request a scholarship in your registration or contact Amanda to work out a payment that works for your family budget. We do not want cost to keep students from coming and funds are available for this purpose.

NOVEMBERING

SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 6: The Novembering Gathering is a time when we can be with one another as a church family to mark the passing of a loved one. It is also a time to acknowledge the many other losses we experience in our lives such as the loss of hope, loss of health / relationship / occupation, just to name a few. We hold this special yearly Gathering to honor and remember those we love, invite God’s healing Presence into those tender places of grief / loss, and to be reminded that God holds us (and all things) together.
