The world invites us to live our lives for ourselves, but Jesus invites us to live for something far greater. He calls us to turn our faces outward and live for the sake of others. We call this Missional Life. There are many ways to serve at Open Door and beyond.

A team of volunteers has been planning and dreaming of ideas for updates to the Gathering Place (GP) to help it feel more welcoming and comfortable. We’re looking for additional volunteers to cut / sand / stain wood, build farmhouse tables, paint and wall-mount large and small elements of wall art and signage, and other projects for skilled craftsmen and experienced DIYers. We’d love to hear from you if you have resources, connections, and / or other skills you feel might be helpful. Join the GP Update Crew and help make these ideas a reality! #ODGPUpdate

SERVE Outside Our Doors

Learning to live our lives for the sake of others is a big part of becoming fully alive in God.  We are called to live our lives missionally wherever God leads us - in our families, our neighborhoods, or around the world.

Take a look at some of the organizations where the people of Open Door volunteer: For the Sake of Others Booklet (PDF)

(Contact: Rose | ext 1600 if you attend Open Door and would like to have your organization included in this booklet.)

Feed My Starving Children

*Meal packing is paused due to COVID-19, but you can help by funding meals to be packed at a later date here: Donate

Feed My Starving Children is a nation-wide organization that creates volunteer hand-packed meal packs of soy, rice, and dried vegetables, and ships them to partners who reach the neediest children around the world. A group from Open Door gathers to pack meals together on the second Saturday of each month. You can join us one time or as many as you like. You can also shop at their marketplace where you can buy gifts from around the world. Your support helps restore dignity while providing meals for hungry families. Children must be age five and older to participate.
